About Juin
Juin Mayne is a ceramic artist based out of Kolkata and works primarily in stoneware. On completing her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calcutta, she decided to pursue her long-held passion for art and undertook a diploma course in ceramics from Ignou-Kvic in Delhi and the Delhi Blue Sanskriti Foundation, followed by a residency under the renowned potter Mansimran Singh in Andretta, Himachal Pradesh. Over the course of her nearly 20-year career, she has engaged with the Indian and international potters' community and participated in several exhibitions and potters' market. She has also conducted and facilitated several workshops.

At Juin Mayne Ceramics, we understand the importance of support in an artist’s life. Our community serves as an educational branch and support system for all artists who visit our Pottery Studio by being a special place where their creative juices can flow freely. We’re dedicated to our artists, and we provide them with the appropriate training and tools they need to succeed. It’s our mission to ensure that the arts remain strong, and to offer classes to students of all levels - introducing newcomers to art and creativity, and refining the techniques of even the most veteran artists.

Working out of my home studio in the suburbs of Calcutta, I am surrounded by an almost-constant buzz of nature - the sounds and colours and many-varied intricacies of which inspire me to create. Working with such a responsive and demanding medium as clay, I search to visualize the forms and patterns that my hands create. I seek for beauty in the utilitarian - drawing inspiration from the everyday world around me and building a seamless blend of functional and aesthete.
